About us
Our Founder’s Journey
Dr. Irshad Ali began his professional journey after completing his postgraduate training in Dermatology in 2009. He chose to start his career in the serene hills of Wayanad, Kerala, drawn by its natural beauty, calm environment, and warm hospitality. Soon after, encouraged by his parents, friends, and relatives to serve his native region, he moved to Perinthalmanna. In 2010, he joined Aster MIMS Kottakkal as a Consultant Dermatologist. Over the next decade, through dedication to clinical excellence and patient care, he rose to become the Head of the Department of Dermatology, a position he held until 2020. Alongside his hospital career, Dr. Irshad Ali also started a modest private practice named Skin Care Centre. After retiring from Aster MIMS in 2020, he focused his full attention on expanding and transforming the clinic. The center was renovated and developed into one of the largest dermatology clinics in the Malabar region. Dr. Irshad Ali’s clinical expertise, ethical approach, and commitment to evidence-based dermatology earned the trust and appreciation of the community. As patient demand grew, he expanded the team by bringing in highly qualified dermatologists, including alumni from prestigious institutions such as JIPMER and AIIMS, ensuring that high-quality dermatological care could reach a larger population. With a vision to deliver advanced dermatology and aesthetic care at accessible costs to people across South India, the concept of AESTRA was born.
AESTRA – Centre for Advanced Dermatology is envisioned as a multidisciplinary institute that integrates Dermatology, Aesthetic Medicine, Aesthetic Dentistry, Plastic Surgery, and Maxillofacial Surgery under one roof.

What is the best way to take care of my skin ?
The best way to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun, avoid smoking, and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers, avoid harsh products, and consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment of any skin conditions.
How long does a hair transplant procedure take?
The duration of a hair transplant procedure depends on the extent of the transplant, the number of grafts required, and the technique used. Generally, the procedure can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. During the initial consultation, your doctor will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate of how long the procedure will take in your particular case.
Will I experience any pain or discomfort during the hair transplant procedure?
During the hair transplant procedure, patients typically experience only mild discomfort or a slight sensation of pressure. Local anesthesia is administered to numb the scalp and minimize any pain or discomfort. Patients may experience some minor soreness or tenderness in the scalp for a few days after the procedure, but this can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain medications. Your doctor will be able to provide you with specific instructions on how to manage any discomfort or pain after the procedure.
How can I maintain the results of a particular skin care treatment over time?
To maintain the results of a particular treatment over time, it’s important to follow a proper skincare routine and avoid any factors that can damage the skin , such as excessive sun exposure, smoking, and harsh chemicals. It’s also recommended to schedule regular follow-up appointments with your doctor for periodic evaluations and adjustments to your treatment plan, if necessary. Your doctor may also recommend specific at-home treatments or products to help prolong the results of your treatment.
What is the recovery process like after a hair transplant?
The recovery process after a hair transplant can vary depending on the individual patient and the extent of the procedure. Typically, patients can expect some mild swelling and discomfort for a few days after the procedure, which can be managed with pain medications prescribed by the doctor. Patients are advised to avoid any strenuous activities, direct sunlight, and swimming for several days after the procedure. The transplanted hairs will fall out within a few weeks of the procedure, but this is a normal part of the healing process, and new hairs will begin to grow in their place within a few months. It’s important to follow all post-operative care instructions provided by the doctor to ensure optimal healing and results.
